Keep calm and climb
Hi I'm Maciek, Gąsiu, Gośnio, Diva....whatever
Usually when someone propose me to spend time on the party, I'm in the party place and dancing before he or she ask. But this saturday our teacher Ina asked me that maybe I want to join her and her friends with climbing trip on Sunday.
"- It's mean that I can not go to the party now?” - I asked.
She suggest that It will be much better if I will go home and sleep. For me as a polite and boring child...but I did as her suggest. I woke up very in the morning, took a train to Sofia and meet Ina with her firends. Our trip is stared.
Train is full of people...not normal people, full of „climbers”. In the air you can fell the atmosphere of excitation, and little smell of sweat. But whatever!
„All of us going to be LARA CROFT in previous epizod of her adventure” - I thought.
And for sure I'm the only one who thinking like this here. The train is stopping, we are going outside. The mountain way waitining for us. Everybody talking in Bulgarian – one what I understand is „Zadnika”...I think that it's an order to go.
Now we are on place for climibing. Wall is so high, I'm scared, excited and a little going to be hungry. People startng to clim. WHOOOHAAAA! They are amazing...especially one guy : D immediately someone said perfectly” MACIEK!”...yes it was Ina, only she knows how to pronounce my name in correct way. Mostly people call me „Magic” - what is much better then my name anyway ; P.
"-It's your turn...come one, I will support you.”
She is best, I trust her so much. I'm wearing the climbing belt...and just start do climb. What was after is impossible to describe. Freedom, Blood, Pain in muscles, Sweat and ADRENALINE!
I WANT MORE AND MORE!
Ina Thank you so much...you are the best!

What are you talking about ? European Voluntary Service ?
For
a while we are talking about European Voluntary Service but I have a
question for you … Do you know what is European Voluntary Service ?
If
you don’t this article is for you !
You
are between 17 and 30 years old. You have a job or you are a fresh
graduated. You want to travel but in the same time to participate in
a project. Yes travelling can be different kind of things :
backpacker in Croatia, hitchhiking in India and volunteer in
Bulgaria, this is different kind of travelling.
The
European Voluntary Service is an Erasmus + program who allows people
between 17 to 30 years old to participate in an european project for
a duration of 2 weeks to 12 months. You can make just one Evs in your
life (BUT if for example your first Evs is 2 months you can make a
second one, but short ). This experience is an opportunity to travel,
to improve skills like linguistic skills, creation of project etc. It
is a good way to discover another country, culture, people. On
different plans it is a good experience to write on the Cv and for
yourself of course !
"But ... how can I find an Evs ?"
So
first step, you can begin to think about what kind of project you
want to do. And in the same time you contact a sending organisation
in your area.
This
is a portal where you can find a big part of the sending organisation
in Europe :
But
to be sure you can ask to your city hall for adding information.
After
this first contact, you will have to be more precise about your
choice for this European Voluntary Service. And you begin now the
hunting of a hosting organisation.
Your
sending organisation will give you tools to chose an organisation and
a project but finally you are the master in this choice ! Either you
begin to make your choice depending of the country and then the
project or at first the project and then the country. You go back on
the website : https://europa.eu/youth/evs_database
and you make your choice between the different hosting organisation.
To make short: a little mail for each structures who interest you, to
know if they are lookinf for volunteers. Wait, keep sending, wait …
Then if reply, you send your Cv and cover letter ! Wait and … first
meeting, generally by skype. And several meetings after …
There
is as well some projects who are looking for directly volunteers. So
you can apply for the project who interests you. On facebook you can
find different groups where ads are posted regularly.
When
you have your hosting organisation everything goes fastly and you
wont need anymore to read what I am saying ! The sending organisation
is here to help you to find an orgAnisation and to make the
administrative job.
So !
This is a brief glimpse about what is an European Voluntary Service but I gave you the main points about the way to have an Evs. I hope that you have understood what is an Evs and as well you would like
to do one ! :)
ON-ARRIVAL TRAINING IN VARNA CITY !
After one month in Bulgaria, it is time for the on-arrival training. To
make short: we aren’t the only Evs people in Bulgaria so this
on-arrival training is for all people on EVS here for 1 to 2 months.
It was the occasion to met Evs people from Sofia, Varna, Sliven and
more. Around 50 people from Italy, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Spain,
Turkey, France, Czech Republic, Austria were all together on one week
in Varna, more precisely Saints Constantine and
Helena, 25 minutes of bus from Varna, in front of the Black
Sea. Nice place to talk about our own experience of Evs in Bulgaria.
Our
three trainers, Natalia, Katia and Petra managed this training. The
different days were organised between talks, work in group, plays and
animations in the evening. Our trainers managed plays to know
each other, the names but as well the Evs of each one. Different size
of group were made to talk, to learn more about Evs like what is the
responsibility of each part of this voluntary so the sending
organisation, the hosting organisation, the coordinating organisation
(if there is), the mentor, supervisor even the National Agency and so
on. After the rights and duties, we made a workshop to know what we
want to learn in Bulgaria, of course Bulgarian but as well some
skills like managing a project, work in a multicultural team etc. We
decomposed Evs like a puzzle to understand the possibilities and
opportunities that this program can offer. So to live deeply this
adventure it was interesting to make a point : now how I am, how I
want to be on the next training so mid-term, and then the main
objectives, the project of the Evs and the personal project.
So
we talked about Evs, together, but we went as well in Varna to
promote this program which is opened for any people between 18 and 30
years old. So during an afternoon, groups of seven people around, had
a mission: to go in 3 places, defined before and go there to promote
Evs. In the same time we had to collect pictures and videos to show
how we managed. Challenge !
The European Voluntary Service vs
is a program but each Evs is really different, depending of the town,
the project, the hosting organisation, the number of volunteers. We
all have different kind of mission like working with people having
disabilities, with children, in a natural park and different hosting
organisation like university or associations. On different project we
can see in the same time six volunteers or two. All these factors
produce an unique Evs.
Each
moment of this on arrival was an occasion to share and talk with
other volunteers. After this week we are now a kind of network
in Bulgaria. The goals of this network might be to travel but as well
to share our own experience in our project, to propose ideas for
others etc.

Vrrratsa !
We were on the 19th october 2015. A day like the others, although we woke up at 7 am. We took the car in the sunrise, awaking at first the neighboorhood switching on the car alarm for the huge pleasure of Andrej who cames in this fresh morning to help us ...
And here we are on the road to Sofia, to met Ina to go to Vratsa. But yes, you know Vratsa, this place at the foot of the Balkans, in the North East of Bulgaria.
We have had the opportunity to visit the cave of Ledenika. A waltz of stalagmites and stalagtites in this beautiful place of green.
Then, a walk on the rock. We tried to walk in the mountain. Only our Lara Croft succeed. The weaks quited ...
For the rest, these are some pictures of this trip !

Casual or not casual ...
At first !! this article needs to be readen with this song
* *
*
Maciek fought : this is the story of a man, a man who needed shoes in an unknown country ...
It's been a long time that our story began. After two days in Bulgaria, the obsession or leitmotiv, as you prefer !, appeared ...
His mind was taken by this subliminal thought " you need casual shoes for parties and everyday life because your Timberland sucks ...."
Against winds and storms, he learnt the courage, the volunty and the determination against adversity.
This is after a long long waiting that the dream began reality. It is on the holy day, the 9th october 2015 that our friend Maciek wons and found his graal, his casual shoes.
A legend is born.
Long life to the casual shoes!
